Imbolc: A Seasonal Ceremony

  • Pillar of Light 631 4th St. N, #200 St. Petersburg, FL 33701 United States (map)
Imbolc takes place on the first day of February and is one of the four fire festivals on the Celtic Wheel of the Year. Winter is the longest night, spring is when the days and nights are in balance again, and Imbolc is positioned directly in between. It is the time the earth and nature are waking up, and we too are beginning to feel inspired and motivated again as we look for signs of the coming spring. Imbolc is about inner work and personal reflection, recalculating your life trajectory and making sure you’re heading in the direction of where you want to end up, and to begin taking the steps back into the outer world, emerging from our winter slumber.

This is a sacred ceremony of offering and honoring, intended to hold you in regenerative space as we behold and attune to the shifting energies of Imbolc.

The Wheel of the Year, recognizes the ancient ways we once lived, in honor and in harmony with the natural rhythm of the Earth and Land, and Her seasons. This way of living synchs us with the organic patterns emanating from the Earth- just like eating local and in-season foods, this way of being promotes health, vibrancy, and inspiration. It also supports us in living within the flow of life, rather than against it.

Year by year, as we learn the energies of each season we are in, and begin to incorporate the ancient teachings, we slowly , but surely embody more and more of that which is real. We reclaim the Natural. We restore what was lost. We feel more connected to ourselves, to the Earth around and within us, and to one another.

At Imbolc we are reemerging from the slumbers of Winter. Although the Earth is still in a gentle rest, She is awakening. At this time the wisdom of the Natural world can teach us how to move with inspiration in a way that is unhurried. We hold the magic of our intention with such trust and devotion, that we know there is no way they will not manifest. With this deep trust, we walk slowly into the Spring, and embrace the unrushed return to action.

In Avalon, we turn to Maiden Goddess Brigid in the Northwest. She is the one that holds the Sacred Flame. She is the one we call to for deep soul healing, protection of our animals, for inspiration, and for comfort.

/// WHAT TO BRING ///
